Crazy, right. Sometimes I feel as though I've seen it all, and then something else will happen. It's not as if I'm unfamiliar with strange magicks or transformations. Just that the ones here take surprising turns...
Do you suppose that others may suffer the same fate as they have? Or that...could such a trip serve a greater purpose in this place?
Yeah, weirdly... it's something they talked a lot about back at home. A lot of researchers believed there any number of alternate realities, or different versions of us that existed... that sort of thing. [ or bending what they knew of present reality, but he doesn't get into that. ] But, think this place just feels different, yeah?
[ ... ]
We can't write off the possibility. Do you think it's a way for us to reflect...?
You have scholars who research such things? They must be quite practiced in the art of magick...not even most gods venture to wonder such things.
[She hesitates, but nods after a moment.]
It's a strange way to think about it, but yes. So much of this place has been intending to hold up a mirror to us all. Every chance it gets, your old wounds or weaknesses are unveiled anew. Testing, as if to see whether you've surpassed them or not.
It's hard for me to believe this excursion was only meant to torment those poor souls, and leave them with nothing to show for it. There must be a point to it. It's too strong a spell to cast without purpose.
[ it's not so much magick, but he doesn't correct her in the moment...
he supposed it wasn't an improper way of understanding, either. magic is cooler than science he has to say. ] I agree. I can't picture we were accidentally plucked up, either. Didn't our gravestones also have some weird information on it?
[ which is how he can say this with conviction. ]
Though, it does end up feeling unfair. [ not for himself specifically, but somehow he can't envision some of the others here to have nearly as much blood on their hands, regardless of the reason. the children... says he at supposedly 24 ]
They did. Some scathing assessments there, or just frivolous ones. All the same, they belied too much for comfort. [idk why i feel shocked to hear he is 24, i have no idea what age i imagined he was. 36? 18? your face belies NOTHING, rafayel!!!!!!!!!!!] It is certainly unfair. So few of us hail from the same place. We ought to be following our own laws of life and afterlife, not drawn across scattered realms to pay dues to gods unseen.
Do you think we are being molded for a cause? Or...someone else's idea of "betterment?"
Maybe they thought it was to avoid favoritism? [ a very ill-timed joke, but he does give a shrug. despite the grave topic, rafayel does seem to keep his composure well enough. you know, minus when his eyes do end up focusing on melinoΓ«'s striking ones, and he has to quickly tear his head away. he's still hazukashii ]
Could be. Or maybe this is all meant to point us away from finding our actual salvation. [ it could be either. ] I mean, they seemed to think we were "sinners" from the get-go... I wouldn't put it past them. [ imagine
reflecting, only to be pushed further into the depths of hell. ]
